About Youth Smiles Dental Center

Located at 5918 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206, Youth Smiles Dental Center operates as a dentist serving Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

In Pittsburgh, popular practices book routine cleanings weeks ahead, so call early or ask to be put on a cancellation list; emergency and walk-in clinics are the exception. Across Pennsylvania, a new-patient exam with X-rays and a cleaning typically runs from about $150 to $350 without insurance, and many offices publish new-patient specials on their websites. Check the listing for hours, whether the office takes your insurance or Medicaid, languages spoken, wheelchair access and parking, then confirm by phone: insurance networks and providers change more often than the listings do.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. Typical hours are 8 am–4 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Youth Smiles Dental Center at (412) 361-5437; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, youthsmiles.com.

Its Google rating stands at 3.4 out of 5 from 223 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.

Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Pittsburgh peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I would not bring my dog here, let alone my children. From the moment I walked in and saw how dirty the entry mat and carpets were, I had concerns about the level of care this office provides. I brought my three children (6, 3, 2), two of whom had appointments. Although we were called back on time, the experience quickly went downhill. My 3 yo ran through the door that two staff members were holding open. The employees exchanged glances, but no one attempted to stop him or help, leaving me to chase after him while my other two children were left unattended. My 6 yo told the staff she was scared. When I asked if I could accompany her, I was told no because my son had just ran off. Instead of acknowledging her fear or comforting her, they took her back alone while she was visibly upset. A few minutes later, a staff member returned to tell me they were having difficulty getting her X-rays. I explained that my daughter had already communicated she was afraid, and that allowing me to accompany her likely would have prevented the situation. Rather than working with us, the staff seemed unwilling to make even a simple accommodation. I coached my daughter and she returned for Xrays succ

I have been brining my daughter’s here for years and I have never had an issue. However, yesterday’s visit shocked me . The front desk lady with the curly blonde is hair is very rude and short with everyone that came in during my hour or so visit. The way that she spoke to everyone was disheartening. I overheard her give wrong information and instead of apologizing, she just decided to be rude to the parent . At the end of the day this is a children’s dental office. It should be welcoming and comforting including the staff. She should not be the first face that people see when they walk in, if this is how she is going to conduct herself . Aside from that, all of the Dentist and assistants are very nice and pleasant .

Horrible! First of all let's talk about the garbage bags on the water fountains when you walk in. That was red flag number one. You cannot go back with your children which gives the hygienist free range to do and say what they want to your child. My son was berated and made to feel ashamed and embarrassed by an overweight hygienist with a filthy mask on. She stated he hadn't been seen by a dentist in 8 years! Which totally incorrect. He hadn't been at this location in 8 years because we moved. And it will be another 8 years before we EVER go back. Dirty mask was rude, tried to over talk me, and had no clue on what she was talking about. I would shut this place down. A waste of space at this pointπŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

As soon as they told me I couldn’t go back with my 6 and 4 year old, I was immediately turned off and upset. Then they told me my son as cavities on all of his bottom teeth, AFTER mixing up the xrays 🀬, I didn’t speak to the actual dentist, they never showed me the X-rays and they want to put him to sleep and cap them all with silver. What are all the options. And I truly don’t trust a thing these people told me. It was all sketching from the beginning. I plan on getting a second opinion. Front desk lady even mentioned she could have gotten better images. Like what!

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with this office was extremely disappointing and ultimately led me to switch providers. I do not recommend this office if you desire reliable care for your child. There is an evident lack of professionalism at the front desk. Both over the phone and in person, I could hear staff laughing while I was trying to get assistance. During an in person visit, I also heard music playing and observed front desk staff standing around and watching videos on their phones instead of assisting patients and letting the phones ring. This created a strong impression that patient concerns were not being taken seriously. I called four separate times and left urgent messages that were never returned. On two occasions, my calls were abruptly disconnected without explanation. Reliable communication is essential in a healthcare setting, and this office consistently failed to meet that basic expectation. Due to the repeated lack of response and unprofessional conduct, I had no choice but to transfer my child's care elsewhere. I strongly recommend that the office reevaluate its front desk management, staffing, and communication practices to ensure patients receive

My girls (8,7,3) have all gone to Dr.Rafkin and Dr.Hershberger for years! And being in orthodontics for 12 years myself as an occupation can confidently say that they are knowledgeable and very caring when it comes to how they treat the patient. Their Hygenists are all very wonderful and so fun and kind to my girls! The scheduling team is wonderful and are able to get all three of my kids in at the same time! I have and will continue to refer anyone who asks for a good pediatric dentist to Youth Smiles Dental Center! Keep up the good work!

These people are truly amazing!!! My daughter had a procedure that needed extra paperwork for it and they went above and beyond to get it done. They’re very efficient and very friendly.. HIGHLY RECOMMEND especially for the little people!!!

Kids 4 years and older have to go back by themselves for x-rays and cleanings. It’s a policy everyone working there is strict in enforcing and repeating. I’ve been fairly happy with Youth Smiles until my daughter now turned 4 and they expect me to wait in the waiting room for her, which I am absolutely not happy with. I also find their x-ray frequency of every 6 months starting at 4 for low risk children very questionable after reading ADA/FDA guidelines.
